10 Things to know about moving to Pemberton

Published on

Are you thinking about moving to Pemberton? Here are 10 things you need to know before making the move:

1. It’s far removed…

Pemberton is an authentic mountain town, far removed from the busy life in the city. Located two and a half hours from Vancouver, there is a small village with neighbourhoods spreading out through the valley.

Life here is slower paced and can feel a world away, even from neighbouring Whistler.

2. …But not that far removed

While you do feel like you’re living the remote mountain life, Pemberton is under a 30 minute drive to Whistler, where you can find tons of amenities and a world-famous ski resort. And if you’re looking to get further away, Vancouver’s international airport is three hours south and can take you anywhere in the world!

3. There are tons of things to do

The first thing you notice in Pemberton is the sheer amount of activities on offer. Much like Whistler, there are mountain biking and hiking trails, along with backcountry skiing and snowboarding in the winter.

Locals enjoy fishing, and horse-riding, sledding, and much more. And if that wasn’t enough, there is always Whistler Blackcomb!

4. It’s a real estate micro-market

The real estate market in Pemberton is truly a micro-market. By this, we mean that it does not follow the trends of surrounding markets, and is unaffected by many external factors. This means that it is incredibly important to speak to a local, knowledgeable Realtor when looking for a property. A local Realtor really understands the market and can provide you with the most accurate and up-to-date information to assist your decision.

5. There are more housing choices than you may think

It can be easy to assume that Pemberton is just made up of chalets and farmhouses, but this is far from the reality! Yes, there are plenty of chalets and farmhouses, but you will also find a huge range of family homes, townhouses, and condos spread throughout the valley.

Pemberton has something for everyone, as well as covering a huge range of budgets!

6. It’s not just farms and horses

The area is famous for its farming, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t more to do! As we mentioned there are tons of activities all year round, along with lots of events throughout the year.

7. The community makes it

The Pemberton community is truly special and if you’re knew to the area they will immediately make you feel at home. With such a close-knit community it’s only a matter of time before you know pretty much everyone in the village!

It’s the perfect place for families, and a great place to grow up!

8. It’s a unique lifestyle

Living here is a totally unique lifestyle, and is unlike that of the surrounding areas. The pace is slower and everyone is here because they have found something special. From the views of Mt. Currie, to the open fields, lakes, and rivers, Pemberton is about enjoying life and taking everything in!
