Big Sky Outdoor Movie Night in Pemberton

Published on

From the inspiring landscapes of the Pemberton Valley, to the equally inspiring people that live in and around its community, Pemberton exudes all that is natural, BC living—and it’s unique events like Big Sky’s Outdoor Movie Night that showcase what a special place Pemberton really is.

For the last couple of years, Big Sky Golf Course has hosted a movie night on their driving range. The outdoor venue is the perfect place to sit with family and friends under the stars, while catching some action on the silver screen, courtesy of Fresh Air Cinema. Last year, admission was by donation and proceeds went to the Pemberton Animal Well-Being Society, so it’s for a good cause.

What to expect

Past movies have included 2016’s The Jungle Book, Jurassic World and Beauty and the Beast. New takes on old classics that can be enjoyed by the whole family, and this year we’re waiting eagerly to find out which movies we’ll get to see!

While the event date hasn’t been set yet—the event is usually in July and weather dependent—we can’t wait to hunker down with the rest of the Pemberton community to catch a flick (and, word has it that a few folks from Whistler always make the trek).

There is a fun energy at Big Sky’s outdoor movies, sitting with the families curled up on blankets, lawn chairs and air mattresses and dressed in their cosiest clothes. Snacks and drinks are available at the concession stand, including popcorn, candy, beer and cider. When it comes down to it, you may not be able to go back to the couch or the theatre to watch movies, it’s that much fun!

The event is smoke free, dog friendly and the organizers recommend bringing some bug spray, just in case. Plus, there is parking available near the golf course clubhouse.
