Pemberton Community Snapshot

If you’ve ever tried one of our infamous potatoes, you may know Pemberton as a farming community. If you’re a fan of snowmobiling, you may be familiar with the local sledding scene. If you love the great outdoors, you’ve probably heard of some of our famous hikes, trails, and hot springs.

But what do you know about Pemberton’s locals?

It’s hard to pinpoint a certain “type” of person who calls Pemberton home – that’s because Pemberton residents are as varied as they come. Sure, some are farmers or sledders or outdoor enthusiasts (sometimes all three!), but Pemberton residents come in many different flavours, so to speak.

We’re Farmers – But Accountants, Too

Our local farmers work tirelessly to grow the amazing produce that the area is known for – and you should definitely sample the local fare at the Farmer’s Market or sign up for regular deliveries of fresh veggies. But there are other industries in town, and there are people representing many different types of jobs in Pemberton.

Like most towns, we have people who are accountants, teachers, lawyers, grocery store clerks, administrative assistants, and real estate agents, among many other professions. Some people own their own businesses; others are professional athletes. Ultimately, it takes all kinds of people to keep our town running!

We’re Extreme – Well, Sometimes

If you’re into sledding, backcountry skiing or splitboarding, epic overnight hikes, or mountain biking, then you’re in luck – many people in our community are passionate about these adventure-fueled activities, and our backyard is certainly well suited to each of these endeavors.

But we’re not all adrenaline junkies! Some people prefer to tackle the trails on snowshoes, cross-country skis, or horseback. If you like a slower pace of living, there’s definitely room for you in our community.

And, of course, there are some people who like both – maybe they go sledding in the backcountry one day, and then go for a quiet snowshoe around a lake the next. In Pemberton, you don’t have to choose – you can try a little bit of everything to your heart’s content.

We’re Rural – And Urban

Okay, urban may not be quite the right term – you won’t find any high rises in Pemberton, and traffic jams are a rare occurrence.

What we’re trying to say is that Pemberton is home to secluded houses on large acreages and condos in our downtown core. We have town homes, duplexes, communities with single-family homes, hobby farms, working farms – and just about everything in between. If you like having options when it comes to real estate, you’ll definitely like Pemberton.

We’re Local – And International

A random sampling of our population will yield people of varying degrees of “local”ness. You’ll find people whose ancestors lived here many centuries ago; you’ll find people who moved here as kids; you’ll find former Whistler residents who escaped to Pemberton for a more mellow vibe; you’ll find newcomers who have moved from countries across the ocean – in short, you’ll find a little bit of everything in Pemberton’s residents.

That’s a good thing – it means exposure to different languages, cuisine, and culture, not to mention some great perspectives for dinner party chats or barstool banter.

Pemberton locals may not be easy to define, but hey – that’s not a bad thing!
