It’s back!

After a long winter, growing season has returned in full force, and that means that the Farmers’ Market is back for its fourth summer!

Friday is Now Market Day!

The first Farmers’ Market of the season is scheduled for June 19—yes, that’s a Friday, which is the new official day of the market. The market will continue through to October 9, every Friday from 3:00 to 6:30.

The Pemberton Farmers’ Market takes place at the community barn on Frontier Street in downtown Pemberton.

You can expect your favourite farmers, craft vendors, and food vendors to return once again, and you’ll surely discover some new favourites among the first-time vendors joining in 2015.

Why Try the Farmers’ Market?

If you’re new to the idea of a Farmers’ Market, then you might wonder how it differs from a regular trip to the grocery store. First of all, the Pemberton Farmers’ Market offers you the opportunity to buy from the source directly. Not only will you have access to the freshest produce possible, but you’ll also have the opportunity to talk to the very people who grow it. They can tell you about everything from how they grow their produce to how to prepare it in a tasty recipe. Buying direct from the producer often means you’ll pay a little less too.

The Farmers’ Market is more than just fresh fruit and vegetables. You’ll find arts and crafts booths, fresh baked goods, bath and beauty products, candy, nuts, eggs, cheese, milk, a variety of ethnic food, fresh cut flowers, plants, items for your pets, tasty preserves, and a whole lot more. Vendors vary throughout the season, meaning there will always be plenty of opportunities to explore new products.

The Pemberton Farmers’ Market often features live musicians and entertainment. It’s a great place to bring the family; you’ll have lots of fun while also picking up your groceries for the week.

Pemberton: The Best Farmers’ Market!

We might be a little biased, but we think that the Pemberton Farmers’ Markets is one of the best markets out there. It’s not just because the vendors are exceptionally friendly; it’s largely due to the fact that the items you pick up were literally grown just down the road. Pemberton is known for producing extraordinary fruits and vegetables, including our legendary Pemberton potatoes. It’s hard to get food that’s fresher than this, unless you’re the farmer yourself!

Getting Ready for Market Season

In preparation for the glorious season ahead, you’ll want to pick up some sturdy re-usable bags or baskets. Don’t forget to take them with you: put them in the trunk of your car (if you’ll be driving) or by the front door the night before the market. Consider what produce is in season, and research recipes that call for those ingredients so that you’ll know what else you need to pick up. Alternatively, you could plan your meals backwards; just show up to the market and ask the farmer what they recommend you try this week. Make that your central ingredient, and find a recipe that fits around it.
