As the sun shines down and the temperature continues to rise, one can only conclude that summertime is finally upon us. We all start to spend more and more time outdoors catching rays, hiking trails, tending gardens and staying active at the lake.
The Pemberton Valley has everything you need to live out a super summer, and after all is said and done, sometimes all that’s left is to enjoy a great meal and refreshing beverage. And what better way than outdoors, on a patio, with a stunning view of the mountains and trees.
Here’s a list of the best patios in and around Pemberton:
Fescues at Big Sky Golf Club
The patio at Fescues is full of fairway views and endless green.
The restaurant is proud of their farm-to-table menu, offering delectable comfort food, burgers, salads, fish and chips and more, made entirely from local, Pemberton ingredients—all the way down to their tartar sauce. Fescues dishes up brunch, lunch, dinner, live music and a great selection of craft beer and wine pairings. Get out the sunscreen!
For something a little different, Barn Nork offers up authentic Thai cuisine—their chefs trained in Bangkok—in Pemberton on a spacious patio with a wicked view of Mt. Currie. You’ll be sure to see some wildlife while enjoying a curry or hot and sour soup, and you may even see a horseback rider or two. We recommend the Thai coffee ice cream on a sunny Pemberton day!
Black Squirrel at The Meadows
Five minutes from Pemberton at The Meadows golf course is another patio ripe for relaxing. With an amazing view of the manicured course in the middle of beautiful wilderness, Black Squirrel is a great outdoor dining option serving up tacos, burgers, pad thai, steak, pizza and more. With local beer, wine and spirits up for grabs, and a happy hour that goes from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Black Squirrel is the perfect place to chill out after 18 holes, a day hike, or to catch some live music.
Another can’t-miss patio can be found at Pemberton’s long-time hub The Pony.
Fusing together fine dining with that charming, hometown Pemberton vibe, The Pony delivers differing lunch and dinner menus with everything from burgers to confit duck, all made of locally sourced ingredients. The patio here has been a staple in Pemberton for years, showing off what the town has to offer while you relax and re-energize with good food and good company.
Mile One Eating House
If you’ve got some outdoors experience, it’s likely you’ve seen mile and/or kilometre markers all over the trails—which is exactly what Mile One Eating House is named for.
Sometimes known as a grab-and-go lunch spot, Mile One actually has one of the best patios in Pemberton. Located at the bottom of Mt. Currie, the outdoor seating area is slightlyelevated, giving you a great view of the town and the mountains. The chefs here have brought their culinary experience into the world of delicious comfort food, and source their ingredients from farmers, fisherman, ranchers, growers and more from all around the Sea to Sky area.
Settle in for the full experience, and if it’s a hot day, they’ve usually got air conditioning inside!
